Thanks for joining us today!
As followers of Jesus, we are called to be 'Set Apart' from the ways of the world, pursuing holiness as we live by HIS grace, for HIS glory, and in HIS power to bring about HIS Kingdom in and through HIS people. We are “Set Apart” for a purpose, to intentionally live lives of obedient faith and holiness “for the sake of HIS name among all the nations.”
Knowing what Jesus has done for you allows you to consider/reckon yourself dead to sin. Allowing you to live in the newness of life He promised, serving Him as His obedient slave/disciple.
Discussion Questions -
Reread Romans 6:1-14
Reflecting on Romans 6:1-4: what does it mean to be "baptized into Christ Jesus" and "baptized into his death"? How does this impact our understanding of baptism?
Paul emphasizes the importance of considering ourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:11). How does this mindset shift influence our behavior and attitudes towards sin?
Reread Romans 6: 15-23
Reflecting on Romans 15-18: Paul talks about being "slaves" to either sin or obedience to God. What do you think it means to be a slave to something? How does choosing to follow God change the way we act and think?
Reflecting on Romans 20-21: Paul essentially says when we were slaves to sin, we were "free" from righteousness, but what did we gain from that? Can you think of a time when something seemed fun or harmless but ended up being harmful or shameful?
What is your greatest application you can take and apply to your life from Romans 6?
Please take time to pray and confess if there is anything in your life that you have not put to death that is inhibiting you from experiencing newness in Christ.
