Thanks for joining us today!
Jesus told His disciples “it is to your advantage that I go away…” because doing so allowed for the coming of the Holy Spirit. We are not to merely exist as passive believers waiting for the return of Jesus. Instead, as Christ-followers we are “Empowered” by the Spirit, enabling us to live a life characterized by boldness, unity, and unwavering faith in order to bring the transformative love and life of Jesus Christ to the world around us.
Following JESUS really isn't overly complicated. HE is the LORD. Following HIM is a matter of HIS grace through HIS HOLY SPIRIT, obeying HIS teaching, fellowship and making much of HIM in all of this. We are Empowered to do so and in doing so HIS family grows!
Discussion Questions -
Please re-read Acts 2:42-47 - Of the 4 activities the church devoted themselves to in v.42 which are strong in your church's life and which are needing strengthening?
How might GOD be calling you to help strengthen HIS Church with regards to these 4 activities? What is a step you can take this week to do so?
In verse 43 there is an awe or fear spoken of. What is the difference between "fear/awe" and the "fear of the LORD"?
In verses 44-46 there are multiple expressions of togetherness. What stands out to you in these verses and how can today's church learn and change from this example?
Verse 47 seems to really drive home the connection between praising GOD, HIS favor and HIS adding saved people to HIS Church. How should this shape our own actions when it comes to sharing JESUwith others?
